A few more from a recent family session

Tonight I’m posting a couple of new sneak peek pictures from the G Family photo session last weekend. If you will remember they are the brave family who took on the rain for a little fun and some family pictures. The pictures below are of their son Josh, isn’t he just darling?!?! It was important to Josh to view each picture immediately after I took it, he was such a character! One time I snapped a picture, he asked to see it, then looked up at me and said, “I’m so cute!” Enjoy the pictures!

Family Session Sneak Peek!

I’d like to introduce you to a wonderful family who isn’t afraid of a little rain! Meet the G Family! We scheduled their session over a month ago and crossed our fingers for perfect weather. Well, we couldn’t have been more wrong! Saturday was a cloudy, sometimes raining day! After touching base Saturday morning we decided to brave the weather. We met up downtown just as it started to pour! Thankfully most of our locations were covered so we were able to capture some wonderful pictures. Thanks G Family for letting me capture this time in your life! Enjoy the sneak peek!

I love the picture below! I’m not sure if it’s because it was Josh’s idea (boy with the green dog) or because it truly reflects my favorite style of photography. It’s very spontaneous… animals, bottles, almost as if they stopped while on a walk downtown to capture that moment of the day. Josh, thanks for telling me to stop and take the picture!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Once clients view the images from their photo session they often ask…. How should we display the images in our home? What sizes do we order? How many prints?

Deciding how to display portraits in your home is a very important decision, especially when you are making a significant investment. At Melissa Mize Photography we now give you the tools to inspire creativity and help you make wise choices. With this important decision comes careful planning, this is why I’m pleased to announce the addition of the Inspire Guide. The Inspire Guide will provide you with wall display ideas, what print sizes are used in the displays and an idea of what they look like in a particular area of your home (for example- a wall display above a couch).

One to two weeks after your shoot you will receive the password to your personal gallery along with the password to view the Inspire Guide. The design ideas are made to go with different rooms in your house or to be mixed and matched based on your home. When you find a design you love- I’ll customize it with pictures from your session and colors from your house. The completed customized design will be available for viewing in your personal gallery. This will help you decide where and how to display your prints as well as what sizes to order.

*The design guide is a digital image to assist in selection of print sizes.

Enjoy a few completed design ideas below!

Father/Son Sneak Peek

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Kristen of Son Kissed Photography for a Father/Son Shoot in downtown Tulsa. The day was a little overcast but we had a blast hanging out with Chuck and Cameron. They were up for anything and we even tried out a few new shoot locations. Thanks for letting me tag along!

Urban shoots are officially my favorite! Thanks to downtown Tulsa there are numerous locations, colors and textures to give the pictures a unique look. If you are considering family pictures think about doing something outside the box! I’d love to visit about creating a unique session showcasing your family’s style.

WHERE DID SPRING GO?

I woke up this morning wondering… where did Spring go? Just last weekend I snapped a few pictures of the tulip blooms and beautiful daffodils at Woodward Park. Then today, it’s snowing! Only in Oklahoma it snows 6-8 inches the last weekend of March. Thank goodness I listened to my husband and didn’t plant anything in the flower beds. He kept telling me to expect another FREEZE but he didn’t say anything about snow! Since the weather man seems to be conflicted on how the amount of snow we received, I decided to measure for myself. After turning the house upside down looking for a ruler, I gave up and enlisted the help of a coke can. It’s official! The snow in my yard is as high as a coke can. Don’t believe me… see the pictures below. Good luck staying warm today!

SPRING!

I couldn’t resist spending a little time outside to enjoy the beautiful weather today. After a quick trip to Wal-Mart to purchase potting soil and several packs of pansies, I planted flowers! Pansies have always been a personal favorite and remind me of living in the Theta House. Once I got them planted I decided to take a few pictures. I even snapped a couple of pictures of Maggie with her new summer hair cut! I hope you enjoy the pictures!

A little fun with Photoshop!

A few months ago I took pictures of my best friend’s three animals. Tonight I decided to have a little fun with the pictures. I hope you enjoy the pictures of Annabelle, Abby and Avery.

Weekend in the big "D"

Saturday morning I left for Dallas to meet up with a few of my sorority sister for a bachelorette party! We started the day at the Belmont Hotel. It’s a great boutique hotel located on a cliff overlooking downtown Dallas. We spent most of our day catching up… it’s amazing how our lives have changed since we lived together in the Theta house! The night was filled with funny gifts, laughter and a little bubbly! I think everyone would agree we had a great time. Congratulations to Meredith and Eric! I wish you a lifetime of happiness! Since every post is better with a picture… enjoy the cowboy boots!

Last week I gave you a little sneak peek from the C Family Session. Tonight I’m sharing a few more pictures for you to enjoy. The C Family is one of my favorites! I’ve know Brooke (Parker’s mom) since I was 3 years old. I was in her wedding and she was in mine…she really is more like a sister to me. I couldn’t have been happier for her when she married Chad. He is a wonderful guy and makes Brooke very happy! About three years ago they were blessed with little Parker, she is just the cutest thing I have ever seen!

The much anticipated official post of baby Ethan is finally here! I’ve gotten to know baby Ethan’s mom because she works with my mom. After finding out she was pregnant I couldn’t wait to capture his innocence. My congratulations to the lucky parents and I wish them a lifetime of happiness with their new bundle of joy!

Darius Rucker Concert!

A couple of weeks ago I won tickets on the radio to the Darius Rucker Concert at Cain’s Ballroom. Let me just make this clear, I NEVER win things! I’m a huge fan of Darius Rucker so I tried to purchase tickets to the concert. According to the radio station the only way you could get tickets is to win them on the radio. By nothing but luck I managed to win two tickets a couple of days before the show. The concert was an acoustic session with about 100 people in attendance. It was FANTASTIC! Darius Rucker has an amazing voice live! You can check out his website by clicking here. Since every post is better with a picture… here is one of my husband and me at the concert. The picture below was taken with my point and shoot by the lady who sat in front of us. I think she got a little close!?!?! I wish I could post a few of Darius Rucker singing but thanks to my point and shoot they are terrible!!

Photo Display Ideas

Recently a client asked for suggestions on how to display pictures from her family session. After giving a few ideas I started looking around the web. Below I've posted pictures from various magazines and websites as examples. If you see an idea you like below but don't have enough space to complete the entire look, try eliminating one frame/column of frames from each side of the design.

The picture below was submitted to Domino Magazine by a reader for a decorating contest. To view the webpage click here .

This picture by Justin Bernhaut in the April 2007 issue of Domino Magazine shows a great way to hang family pictures in a bedroom.

Looking for a new idea for your stairs? Try adding family pictures! Just make sure you space the mix of frames the same distance apart. Picture by Coliena Rentmeester in the December 2007 issue of Domino Magazine
